Since his first single in 2018, Pablo Hxncho (aka Lawrence Nii Adjei Laryea) has gradually been building up a cult following not just online but also in Sakumono, where he resides.
When he held a launch party for ‘Peace and Chaos’, his debut album on 29th July 2023 at Apex Nightclub in Sakumono, the place was filled to capacity with expectant fans. Present to support were his mother, collaborators $pacely, NYA and also OG personalities like Macho Rapper.
On ‘Peace and Chaos,’ Pablo Hxncho harnesses the melodies and harmonies of Afro dancehall to explore the duality of his existence as he strives to live out his dreams.
Right from the first track, ‘Motion’, Pablo Hxncho sounds his intention to take away the peace of his naysayers while aiming for the stars.
‘Peace and Chaos’ immerses listeners in a sonic world filled with infectious rhythms and memorable hooks. As Pablo Hxncho navigates themes of love, resilience and self-discovery, his delivery oscillates between the commanding bravado expected in dancehall and moments of vulnerability that reveal his artistry.
One of the album’s distinguishing qualities is its production. The beats are innovative, incorporating elements of traditional West African percussion with contemporary dancehall textures. Pablo Hxncho worked with a number of producers: Sosawavegod, Prod by Freddo, Kwekutopz, Aarondugud, JasonFresh, Code9universe, and Lee Hendrix to achieve this sonic fusion which invites a diverse audience to groove to its rhythm.
‘My Life’, one of the standout tracks, encapsulates the album’s essence, showcasing Pablo Hxncho’s ability to balance the energy of dancehall with soul-stirring lyrics. The juxtaposition of fiery beat and vulnerable storytelling is a testament to his unique artistic vision.
Whether he’s celebrating love’s euphoria or navigating the complexities of making a living out of his creative hustle, ‘Peace and Chaos’ is a debut album that establishes Pablo Hxncho as a rising star in the music industry.
